The story begins in 1982, when Jayapalan Naroth founded Sree Aravind Enterprises as a fabric exporter. What started as a trade in cloth became, over four decades, a fully vertically integrated manufacturing operation — knitting, fabric processing, dyeing, and finished garment production, all under one roof, all under one standard.

That integration is the point. When a garment is knitted, dyed, processed, and sewn within the same group, quality stops being something you inspect for at the end and becomes something you build in from the yarn. It is the difference between a supplier and a partner, and it is why the world's most demanding apparel brands have stayed. Abercrombie & Fitch. Columbia Sportswear. Nautica. Hollister. Quiksilver. Replay. United Colors of Benetton. These are labels that do not tolerate variance, and they return season after season.

Today the group employs over 1,500 people. Its Sri Lanka manufacturing unit sits in Padenya, Wariyapola, in the Kurunegala District — deliberately placed along the Anuradhapura Highway, roughly two and a half hours from Colombo's international airport. The location was a choice, not a compromise. The congested export zones of Negombo and Katunayake were passed over in favor of a site with a loyal, local workforce drawn from three neighboring villages, because a stable team makes consistent product.

The facility spans more than 66,000 square feet of production floor. It runs 17 production lines and accommodates up to 1,500 workers, with headroom to double capacity as demand grows. It holds BOI status with a negotiated tax holiday, and — critically for the brands it serves — it was built from the ground up to meet international compliance and sustainability expectations, backed by sourcing and buying offices in India.

For a buyer, the proposition is simple. Origin access, in-house control across every stage of production, decades of continuity, and a compliance record that survives audit. In an industry where reliability is rare and rarely proven, this is a manufacturer whose track record does the talking.
